Blood alcohol tests are used by law enforcement officials to determine the possible level of driver impairment in order to establish a drunk driving charge. On Aug. 13, 2013, Mesa police responded to an accident in which a cyclist suffered fatal injuries. At the scene, the officers determined that the individual had been hit by a vehicle. Further investigation led them to suspect that a specific 37-year-old man had driven his vehicle while intoxicated that evening.
