BULLHEAD CITY, ARIZONA (March 14, 2026) – A 55-year-old motorcyclist identified as Brian Bayer has tragically died in a Bullhead City dump truck accident near the intersection of Bullhead Parkway and Silver Creek Road.
Mohave County officials are saying that the collision took place around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Brian Bayer was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a dump truck that was attempting to make a turn onto Silver Creek Road from Bullhead Parkway.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the injured victim. Despite life-saving measures, Brian Bayer died due to the severe nature of his injuries.
The driver of the dump truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
Dump truck drivers are required to obtain a commercial license and are expected to operate with all the safety and prudence necessary to avoid a collision. They must be particularly cautious when making left turns. According to Arizona Vehicle Code 28-772, “The driver of a vehicle within an intersection intending to turn to the left shall yield the right-of-way to a vehicle that is approaching from the opposite direction and that is within the intersection or so close to the intersection as to constitute an immediate hazard.” Dump trucks can be particularly dangerous for several reasons.
If a dump truck driver makes a left turn into the path of a vehicle, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. These types of accidents are nearly always preventable and involve negligence on the part of the driver, making the left turn. Drivers are supposed to yield to oncoming traffic before making a left turn. Liability for any dump truck accidents could extend to multiple parties beyond a driver determined to be at fault. The company that owns or operates a dump truck may also be responsible for a collision. In Arizona, employers can be vicariously liable for the tortious actions of their workers operating within the course and scope of their job duties.
Left turns are among the most dangerous maneuvers that drivers can make. This is why so many companies work to eliminate as many turns as possible in the routes that their drivers take. According to Science Alert, “More than 60% of traffic collisions at intersections involve left turns. Some US cities – including San Francisco, Salt Lake City and Birmingham, Alabama – are restricting left turns.” Multiple actions should be taken after any accident with a truck making a left turn.
Dump truck accidents are often highly preventable. They tend to be the result of poor driving habits and preventable safety lapses. This will include instances where truck drivers are speeding or otherwise not paying adequate attention to the road ahead of them. Part of the problem is that truck drivers will often push their workers to complete routes as quickly and efficiently as possible, even when this endangers other people on the road. The family of any person who died in a truck accident may be able to pursue some measure of accountability through a civil action.
We at The Law Offices of John Phebus extend our deepest condolences to the family of Brian Bayer. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. This was a preventable tragedy that should have never taken place. It is our sincere hope that steps are taken to make this intersection safer.
