SUMMIT, ARIZONA (April 24, 2026) – A motorcyclist identified as Tattoo Tattoo was injured in a Summit semi-truck accident at Nogales Highway and Aerospace Parkway.
Pima County officials said that the accident took place around 9:30 AM on April 13. Tattoo Tattoo was driving down the roadway when he was struck by a commercial truck for undetermined reasons.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victim. Tattoo Tattoo was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A full investigation into the cause of the truck accident remains ongoing at this time.
Semi-truck drivers are required to obtain a commercial license and are expected to operate with an abundance of caution to avoid collisions. They should be particularly cautious around pedestrians and motorcyclists who are more vulnerable to the hazards posed by larger vehicles. According to Arizona Vehicle Code 28-729, “a person shall drive a vehicle as nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not move the vehicle from that lane until the driver has first ascertained that the movement can be made with safety.” Truck drivers should take several measures to avoid collisions.
If a truck driver fails to use caution and collides with a motorcycle, they could be held at fault for the crash through a civil claim. Liability for any truck accident could extend to several different parties. This includes the company that owned the truck or employed the driver. Employers will typically be liable for the negligent actions of their workers who operate within the course and scope of their job duties. However, many truck companies will hire their drivers as independent contractors to limit their legal exposure in the event of a crash.
Motorcyclists lack the protection of enclosed vehicles and are uniquely vulnerable in the event of a car accident. According to the National Safety Council, “Although motorcycles make up only 3% of all registered vehicles and 0.6% of all vehicle miles traveled in the United States, motorcyclists accounted for 16.2% of all traffic fatalities and 3.6% of all injuries in 2024.” Certain action should be taken after any motorcycle accident.
It can be difficult to know where to begin after any truck accident. Victims are often left with severe injuries that impair their ability to work and even perform everyday activities. Unfortunately, truck companies and their insurance providers will almost never accept responsibility when someone is injured. However, any person injured in a truck accident is able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
We at The Law Offices of John Phebus extend our best wishes to Tattoo Tattoo as he continues to recover. Any person who may have more information about what happened should reach out to the police. It is our sincere hope that county officials will work to make this intersection safer. Many questions remained unanswered. What was the speed of the semi truck driver involved in the crash? What is the safety record of the company that owned the truck?
