Facing a drunk driving charge can be a stressful time. Someone who is facing these charges may have a lot of questions. During such difficult times it is important to protect your rights. In cases where there were no serious injuries, the severity of the potential consequences might be lessened.
Recently a Phoenix man found himself in a local lake after allegedly driving drunk, according to a news report. The drunk driving accident happened behind a large apartment complex in a Phoenix suburb. There were no passengers in the man’s pickup truck and apparently no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
According to the police, the suspected drunk driver allegedly drove his pickup truck into the lake and the truck quickly descended into 16 feet of water until it was completely submerged. After the accident, the driver reportedly tried to flee the scene but he was eventually apprehended. Authorities cited the man’s presumed wet footprints as aiding them in tracking him down. The driver is now facing DUI charges.
He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has since been released.
A drunk driving charge is a serious offense that brings with it many uncertainties. In this case the accused did not harm anyone but himself. It is important to understand that if you or a loved one is facing such charges, it is a good idea to speak with an attorney to assist with the legal issues that can stem from such implications.
