Estate of Bobbi Kristina Brown files lawsuit for her death

Arizona residents may be interested to learn that Bobbi Kristina Brown’s estate is suing the boyfriend she had been living with over allegations he caused the injuries that led to her death in July. Brown was the only child of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston.

The wrongful death lawsuit, which was filed in Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta, accuses Nick Gordon of beating Brown during an argument at the couple’s Georgia townhome on Jan. 31 and then giving her a “toxic cocktail” to render her unconscious. He is then accused of putting her face-down in a bathtub filled with water, causing her brain damage. Further, the suit alleges that Gordon had a history of abusing Brown and regularly stole money from her bank accounts. The complaint seeks at least $10 million in damages.

Gordon was questioned by police after Brown was hospitalized, but he was not charged with any wrongdoing. An autopsy conducted by the Fulton County Medical Examiner found no “obvious underlying cause” for Brown’s death, but experts say the length of time between the Jan. 31 incident and her death makes it difficult to determine exactly what took place.

Arizona families who have lost a loved one in a fatal accident caused by another party may wish to seek the advice of an attorney. Even in cases where police elect not to file criminal charges, a wrongful death lawsuit may be pursued. While a lawsuit can never make up for the loss of a family member, it could provide needed financial compensation to cover medical expenses, funeral and burial costs, loss of income, pain and suffering and other damages.
