Lab that combined Spice and Fentanyl discovered

Posted On June 29, 2016 Drug Charges

On June 21, it was reported that Arizona authorities uncovered a drug lab that was mixing Spice with Fentanyl. While Spice is illegal and can be fatal, Fentanyl increases the risk as a very small amount of the drug can result in an overdose. It appears that hundreds of thousands of doses may have already been distributed to users.

Although the specifics of the case were not released, it was revealed that four people were taken into custody. The DEA reportedly expected to take more people into custody in association with this case. Those who were already in custody were described as being Arizona residents between 30 and 40 years of age. It was not known how long this specific lab was in operation. The dealers allegedly used a cement mixer to combine the two drugs.

Fentanyl is so powerful that it is only given in micro-grams. When the Spice is laced with Fentanyl, users cannot determine how much of the drug they are getting. If they get too much, they could overdose and die as a result.

Individuals facing drug charges could spend years behind bars if they are convicted. However, a Surprise drug crimes lawyer may help create a defense and protect the accused person’s rights during the trial. If the prosecution does not have strong evidence against the defendant, the lawyer may argue to get the case thrown out of court. It the attorney cannot get the case dismissed, they may defend the accused person while seeking a full acquittal.
